Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information University Hostel (“we”, “us”) collects, why we use it, and how you can ask us to delete it. It covers this website and messages you send us by phone, email, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, or Messenger.
Who we are
University Hostel (سكنات الجامعة) provides student residences in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman only. We do not operate in other cities.

Information we collect
We collect only what we need to answer you and, if you stay with us, to run the residence.
- Contact details you give us: your name, phone number, email address, and university or college.
- Enquiry details: the semester, room type, arrival date, and anything you write in a message or form.
- Messages: the content of calls, emails, and chats you send us, including on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
- Meta account details shared with us: if you message our Facebook Page, Instagram account, or WhatsApp Business number, Meta may show us your public profile name, profile photo, user or phone identifier, and the conversation, according to your settings on that service.
- Website technical data: our host may log your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the date and time. We use this to keep the site available and secure. We do not run a Meta Pixel or advertising cookies on this website.
- Language preference: if you switch the site to Arabic, that choice is stored in your browser only. It is not sent to us.
This website does not ask you to create an account. The enquiry form opens your own email app and sends the message to us. We do not sell personal information.
We do not knowingly use this website to market to children. If a parent or guardian writes to us about a student, we keep only what is needed for that residence enquiry.
How we use it
- To reply to questions about rooms in Muscat.
- To arrange, manage, or end a stay.
- To contact you about availability, arrival, house rules, or a problem with your stay.
- To keep the residence safe and to meet duties under the law of the Sultanate of Oman.
- To keep this website working.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not give it to data brokers.
Meta platforms
We use Meta products — Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp — so people can reach University Hostel. When you contact us there:
- Meta processes your information under its own policies: Meta Privacy Policy and WhatsApp Privacy Policy.
- We receive the message and the profile details Meta shares with a business account, and we use them only to answer you and to manage a stay if you book one.
- We do not ask Meta for your friends list, and we do not upload customer lists to Meta for advertising from this website.
If we later place Meta tools on this website, we will update this policy before those tools collect information.
Who we share it with
- People who run the house: staff who need the details to answer you or look after residents.
- Our website host: the company that stores this site and its security logs.
- Meta: only in the sense that a conversation you start on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, or WhatsApp is already held by Meta as the service you chose to use.
- Authorities: if the law of Oman requires us to provide a record.
How long we keep it
- Enquiry messages are kept while we are in contact, and for up to 24 months after the last message, then deleted, unless you become a resident.
- Records of a confirmed stay are kept for the stay and for as long as Omani law, a dispute, or an unpaid amount requires, then deleted.
- Security logs are kept only for the period our host needs to protect the site.
- Copies that remain inside Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp follow Meta’s own retention rules. Deleting a chat in the app does not always delete our copy. Use the steps below for that.
How to request deletion of your data
You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you. This right is available to every person who contacts us, including through the WhatsApp service and any other Meta app. Instructions for the WhatsApp service are also published at universityhosteloman.com/data-deletion. Please use one of these steps:
By email. Write to info@universityhosteloman.com with the subject line Data deletion request.
Include your full name, the phone number or email you used with us, and — if you contacted us on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, or WhatsApp — the name or number on that account.
By phone or WhatsApp. Call or message +968 9881 1366, +968 9788 1999, or +968 9221 1134 and say you want your data deleted. We may ask you to confirm the same details so we delete the right record.
We will confirm receipt and delete the personal information we hold within 30 days. We will tell you if we must keep a specific record to finish a current stay, resolve a dispute, or meet a legal duty in Oman, and we will delete it when that reason ends.
You can also remove a conversation inside WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, or Messenger. Please still email us if you want us to delete the copy we received.
Access and correction
You may ask what information we hold, or ask us to correct it, by emailing info@universityhosteloman.com. Use the subject line Privacy request.
Security
We limit access to resident and enquiry records to people who need them. Email and messaging apps are not perfectly private. Please do not send copies of a passport or ID unless we have asked for them for a confirmed stay.
Where the information is handled
We operate only in Muscat. Messages you send through Meta may be processed by Meta outside Oman, under Meta’s terms. Our website host may store server logs outside Oman in order to publish this site.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. The current version is always at https://universityhosteloman.com/privacy.html.
